Abyssinians

Formed in 1968, Jamaica, the vocal trio consisted of lead singer Bernard Collins and brothers Lynford & Donald Manning both former members of there brother Carlton's group "Carlton & His Shoes". The tune "Satta Massagana" was the first recorded by the trio and will remain as one of there best remembered among some other greats they recorded. The Tune was recorded at Coxsone Dodd's Studio One but was not used. Only when the group saved enough money was the tape brought and put out on there own label Clinch in 1971, and became a massive hit in Jamaica. Throughout the 70's the trio continued to release tunes on there own label including: "Let my Days Be Long", "Poor Jason White", "Prophecy", and the classic "This Land Is For Everyone". By the end of the 70's internal conflicts brought things to an end, and after recording "Arise"(under difficult circumstances) the group went there seperate ways. During the 90's the members re-grouped to put out Two singles and make available much of there back catalogue
